Key Highlights:
  • Aave plans to remove 50 low-adoption reserves and 21 matured Pendle PTs.
  • Six blockchain deployments are also set to be retired.
  • The proposal affects roughly $98 million in supplied assets.

Aave has proposed one of its largest protocol cleanups to date, aiming to remove dozens of underused asset reserves and wind down six smaller blockchain deployments.

The governance proposal would offboard 50 low-adoption reserves and 21 matured Pendle Principal Tokens while retiring deployments on Sonic, Scroll, zkSync, Metis, Soneium and Aptos.

In total, the changes affect approximately $98.1 million in supplied assets and $15.6 million in outstanding debt.

According to Aave, the move is part of its new protocol-wide risk framework, which evaluates markets based on activity, maintenance costs and overall risk rather than responding to individual incidents.

If approved, affected reserves would be frozen for new activity while borrowing limits are reduced, encouraging users to gradually close their positions.
