Arbitrum Launches $14M Security Grant for Developers

The Arbitrum Foundation has approved a plan to allocate 30 million ARB tokens — worth around $14 million — toward subsidizing security audits for projects building on its Layer 2 network. The goal is to help developers secure their code without shouldering prohibitive costs.

These subsidies will be disbursed over a 12-month period under a new initiative called the Arbitrum Audit Program, following a successful governance vote by ArbitrumDAO.

Targeted Support for Emerging and Growing Projects

The program is geared toward early-stage projects with demonstrated product-market fit and established teams working on major upgrades. It addresses a major barrier in the crypto space — the high cost of professional security audits — which can hinder innovation or expose users to risk.

Approved participants must work with audit firms from a forthcoming whitelist, ensuring quality and consistency in the vetting process.

Oversight and Ecosystem Impact

An oversight committee will include representatives from the Arbitrum Foundation, core developer Offchain Labs, and a technical expert elected by the DAO. The foundation believes this initiative will improve the overall security of the Arbitrum ecosystem while fostering more development on its chain.

Arbitrum is already one of the most used Ethereum scaling networks and includes tools like Orbit and Stylus that support customizable chains and additional programming languages.
