DefiLlama Flags Suspicious Activity

DefiLlama removed Aster’s perpetual trading data from its platform after its founder, 0xngmi, raised concerns about possible wash trading. He published charts showing Aster’s trading volume began mirroring Binance’s activity almost exactly over the weekend.

While 0xngmi didn’t accuse Aster of wrongdoing outright, he said the lack of transparency made it impossible to verify if trades were legitimate. Until Aster provides lower-level order data, its perpetual data will remain delisted.

Market Reacts to Delisting

Following the delisting, Aster’s token fell more than 10%, according to The Block’s data. The decentralized exchange, which had recently become the top-ranking perpetual DEX by fees and volume, now faces questions about the integrity of its activity.

Aster is advised by former Binance co-founder Changpeng “CZ” Zhao, who left the exchange in 2023 under a plea deal. Neither Aster nor CZ has commented on the allegations.
