Yield Strategy Using Options Infrastructure
Hyperion DeFi announced plans to generate additional revenue by using its HYPE token holdings as collateral for options writing and settlement.
The company said it will not engage in directional trading and instead aims to earn premiums and fees from options activity.
Onchain Options Vault Deployment
The strategy will be implemented through an onchain options vault built on the Hyperliquid ecosystem, with support from Rysk. The vault will enable structured options strategies such as covered calls and cash-secured puts.
Hyperion said it may eventually open the vault to other institutional HYPE holders.
Market Reaction and Treasury Scale
As of December, Hyperion held more than 1.8 million HYPE tokens, worth roughly $64 million. Following the announcement, the company’s shares fell over 13 percent amid a broader crypto market selloff.
Despite the short-term reaction, Hyperion framed the move as a long-term effort to optimize yield on its digital asset treasury.
