Janus Henderson Deepens Commitment to Ethena

Asset management giant Janus Henderson, which oversees roughly $480 billion in assets, has established a position in Ethena's governance token ENA through its blockchain-focused ANTIK venture.

The partnership marks another step in the growing convergence between traditional finance and decentralized finance. Janus Henderson also plans to use Ethena's staked USDe product as part of its cash management strategy, signaling confidence in onchain financial infrastructure.

Ethena founder Guy Young described the partnership as a major milestone, highlighting Janus Henderson's extensive institutional network and distribution capabilities as key factors in expanding access to Ethena's products.

ETF and ETP Plans Enter Discussion

Beyond treasury management, the two companies intend to collaborate on regulated investment products linked to both USDe and ENA.

According to the announcement, discussions include the development of exchange-traded funds (ETFs) and exchange-traded products (ETPs), with potential launches expected during the second half of 2026.

If launched, these products could provide traditional investors with easier exposure to Ethena's ecosystem through familiar investment vehicles, further bridging the gap between crypto-native products and mainstream finance.

USDe Reserves Gain Traditional Finance Exposure

As part of the collaboration, Ethena will integrate Janus Henderson's JAAA strategy into the reserve portfolio backing USDe.

The JAAA strategy focuses on AAA-rated collateralized loan obligations and has become a key component of Janus Henderson's broader tokenization efforts. The firm has been actively exploring tokenized real-world assets through partnerships with blockchain infrastructure providers such as Centrifuge.

This move adds another layer of institutional-grade assets to Ethena's reserve framework as the protocol continues to scale.

Janus Henderson Expands Tokenization Strategy

Janus Henderson has steadily increased its involvement in blockchain-based finance over the past two years.

In 2024, the firm entered the tokenized treasury market after taking over management of the Anemoy Liquid Treasury Fund, a blockchain-based fund investing in short-term U.S. Treasury bills.

More recently, Janus Henderson joined BlackRock as a partner in Grove's Basin liquidity infrastructure, which launched with up to $1 billion in daily stablecoin liquidity capacity. The system is designed to support instant liquidity for tokenized real-world assets through onchain credit facilities.

The latest Ethena partnership reinforces the firm's strategy of building exposure across multiple areas of the tokenized finance ecosystem.
