Ethereum Layer 2 network MegaETH is opening its mainnet for a large-scale global stress test ahead of its public rollout, aiming to push the network to its limits under real-world conditions.
The team plans to process 11 billion transactions over seven days, targeting sustained throughput between 15,000 and 35,000 transactions per second. During the test, users will interact with live gaming applications, while backend activity will include ETH transfers and decentralized exchange swaps.
MegaETH says the goal is not just high numbers, but meaningful stress. The test is designed to expose weaknesses under sustained load, allowing issues to surface and be fixed before the public launch. The team described discomfort as a feature, not a risk.
After the stress test, MegaETH plans to launch its public mainnet with consumer and DeFi applications powered by its native stablecoin, USDm. The project positions itself as a low-latency, Ethereum-secured Layer 2 designed for real-time applications that require predictable fees and fast execution.
Founded in 2022, MegaETH raised $20 million in seed funding from investors including Dragonfly Capital, Vitalik Buterin, and Joseph Lubin, signaling strong interest in high-performance Ethereum scaling solutions.
