Ripple Finalizes EU Electronic Money Approval
Ripple has secured a full Electronic Money Institution license from Luxembourg’s Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier, converting its preliminary approval into full authorization. The license allows Ripple to offer regulated payment and digital asset services across the European Union.
Luxembourg serves as a key financial hub within the EU, giving Ripple a centralized regulatory gateway to expand its blockchain-based payments infrastructure to European businesses.
Europe Remains a Strategic Growth Market
Ripple said the approval strengthens its ability to serve institutions seeking faster, more efficient cross-border payments. According to the company, Europe remains a core region as banks and enterprises modernize legacy systems and explore stablecoin-based settlement.
The license follows recent regulatory progress in the UK, where Ripple received both an EMI license and crypto asset registration from the Financial Conduct Authority. Together, the approvals allow Ripple to operate across major European financial centers under clear regulatory oversight.
Expanding Product and Institutional Reach
Ripple’s growing license portfolio now exceeds 75 global regulatory approvals. These permissions support the firm’s broader strategy to provide compliant blockchain infrastructure to banks, payment providers, and corporates.
The approval also comes shortly after Ripple launched Ripple Treasury, a corporate treasury platform integrating cash and digital asset management following its $1 billion acquisition of GTreasury. The company has also partnered with LMAX Group to support institutional trading using Ripple’s RLUSD stablecoin.
