Robinhood says crypto trading powered by autonomous artificial intelligence agents is coming to its platform following the launch of a new beta focused on AI-driven stock trading.

The retail brokerage announced Wednesday that customers will soon be able to connect custom AI agents capable of managing investments, executing trades, and automating financial activity directly through Robinhood accounts.

The initial beta rollout focuses on equities trading, but the company confirmed support for crypto, options, futures, and event contracts is planned in future updates.

According to Robinhood, customers will be able to grant AI agents direct access to specialized sub-portfolios separate from their primary accounts while monitoring activity through real-time controls and safety systems.

“Customers can connect their own AI agents to Robinhood to help manage and automate trading and credit card purchases,” the company said in a statement.

The launch represents one of the clearest mainstream moves toward so-called “agentic finance,” where autonomous AI systems manage investing, payments, and trading decisions on behalf of users.

Within crypto, the concept has gained significant traction as blockchain infrastructure and stablecoins increasingly become viewed as ideal settlement layers for AI-driven financial systems.

Robinhood said the platform uses AI-native Model Context Protocol servers, or MCP servers, allowing agents to integrate directly with Robinhood infrastructure without relying on unofficial APIs or third-party workarounds.

The announcement also places Robinhood alongside crypto-native competitors such as Coinbase and Gemini, both of which have recently expanded efforts around AI-integrated financial tools.

Robinhood’s crypto ambitions have continued growing despite recent declines in digital asset trading activity. During the first quarter of 2026, the company reported that crypto trading volume and related revenues both fell roughly 50%.

Last year, Robinhood strengthened its crypto position through the $200 million acquisition of exchange platform Bitstamp.

CEO Vlad Tenev framed the AI initiative as an extension of the company’s long-term mission to democratize finance, now evolving toward AI-enabled financial participation.
