Japanese investment firm Metaplanet has increased its Bitcoin reserves to 2,100 BTC following a new purchase.
Metaplanet Buys 68 BTC at $96K Each
On February 20, Metaplanet disclosed that it purchased an additional 68.59 BTC at an average price of $96,335 per bitcoin. This latest acquisition raises its total Bitcoin holdings to 2,100 BTC, worth approximately $203 million.
Metaplanet’s aggressive Bitcoin strategy has led it to accumulate a significant share of BTC, now holding 0.01% of the total supply.
Metaplanet Aims for 10,000 BTC by Year-End
Since announcing its Bitcoin investment strategy in April 2024, Metaplanet has consistently expanded its holdings. The firm has set a goal to hold 10,000 BTC by the end of 2025 and 21,000 BTC by 2026, reinforcing its long-term commitment to the asset.
This latest purchase continues Metaplanet’s rapid accumulation trend, with its BTC holdings increasing from just 141 BTC in mid-2024 to over 2,000 BTC today.
Stock Surges as Investors React
Metaplanet’s bullish approach to Bitcoin has resonated with investors, leading to strong market performance.
The firm’s stock price closed 2.78% higher at 6,290 yen on Thursday, continuing its 427% growth over the past six months. Since January, Metaplanet’s stock has already risen by 80.75%, significantly outperforming the Nikkei 225 index, which dropped 1.24% today.
With Bitcoin demand increasing among institutional players, Metaplanet remains positioned as a leading corporate BTC holder in Asia.
