- Smarter Web sold 178 BTC to repay an $11.7 million convertible instrument.
- The repayment eliminates potential shareholder dilution.
- The company says convertible debt is no longer part of its strategy.
UK-listed The Smarter Web Company has sold 177.89 BTC to repay a $11.7 million convertible financing agreement roughly two weeks before its maturity date.
The repayment removes the possibility of issuing more than 7.7 million new shares, reducing future shareholder dilution. CEO Andrew Webley said the company no longer believes convertible instruments are the right funding method for its Bitcoin treasury strategy.
Despite the sale, Smarter Web still holds approximately 2,700 BTC after spending more than £233 million building one of the UK's largest corporate Bitcoin treasuries.
Shares rose modestly following the announcement, showing investors viewed the early repayment as a positive step toward simplifying the company's capital structure.
