SpaceX Transfers Millions in Bitcoin
Elon Musk's company, SpaceX, moved another 1,021 BTC, valued at approximately $94.5 million, in a single day. This is the second such transfer this month and the ninth this year, continuing a pattern of significant movement. According to analysts citing Arkham data, the total amount transferred in recent months stands at approximately 8,910 BTC, or $924 million. These movements were carried out using the institutional custody platform Coinbase Prime.
Reason for the On-Chain Activity
Although the company has not publicly disclosed the purpose of the transfers, analysts believe these large transactions are likely part of a wallet reorganization effort. This typically involves consolidating funds and upgrading from older "legacy" Bitcoin addresses (starting with '1') to newer, more secure address formats (like those starting with 'bc1q'). While SpaceX significantly reduced its Bitcoin holdings in 2022, the current movements suggest the company is still actively managing its considerable digital asset treasury.
Context: Record-Breaking IPO on the Horizon
The on-chain Bitcoin movements are occurring as SpaceX advances plans for a historic Initial Public Offering (IPO). According to recent reports, the company is aiming for a public debut in mid-to-late 2026. Management and advisors are reportedly targeting a massive valuation of about $1.5 trillion. This IPO is expected to raise well over $30 billion, potentially making it the largest listing in history, surpassing Saudi Aramco’s record-setting 2019 IPO.
