  • Base launches a new Solana bridge powered by Chainlink CCIP

  • Base apps can now support Solana assets natively

  • Users can move assets between Base and Solana in both directions

  • Dual verification by Coinbase and Chainlink nodes enhances security

  • Move supports Base’s goal of becoming a multi chain application hub

Base Opens Direct Connectivity to Solana

Base, the Ethereum Layer 2 developed inside Coinbase, has launched a new cross chain bridge enabling direct transfers between Base and Solana. The bridge is powered by Chainlink’s Cross Chain Interoperability Protocol, one of the most widely used frameworks for secure cross chain messaging.

This integration lets developers on Base support Solana SPL assets in their applications, opening access to liquidity and user bases across both ecosystems.

How the Bridge Works

The bridge allows two-way movement, Solana assets can be brought into Base for use in DeFi, trading, and consumer apps, and Base assets can be exported onto Solana. Users interacting with apps that integrate the bridge can move value seamlessly without switching networks manually.

To ensure message reliability, Base uses a custom dual verification model, where both Coinbase and Chainlink nodes independently validate cross chain transfers.

Base Moves Deeper Into Multi Chain Positioning

Since its launch in 2023, Base has grown into one of the most active Ethereum L2s. The team has long hinted at multi chain ambitions and confirmed Solana integration was being explored earlier this year. At Basecamp, creator Jesse Pollak even suggested that a native Base token may be considered in the future.

With Solana connectivity now live, Base is positioning itself as a unified infrastructure layer that connects assets, apps, and liquidity from multiple major chains.
