Circle Deepens Onchain Trading Ties

Circle Ventures has invested an undisclosed amount in decentralized trading platform edgeX ahead of the project’s planned token launch, expected before the end of March.

Circle also plans to bring native USDC and its Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol to EDGE Chain, the blockchain that underpins the edgeX ecosystem. Both companies confirmed the investment, though financial terms and governance details were not disclosed.

Growing Perpetual Futures Platform

Founded in 2024 and incubated by Amber Group, edgeX operates a decentralized perpetual futures exchange across web and mobile. The platform reports nearly 300,000 users, around $5 billion in daily trading volume, and roughly $1 billion in open interest.

edgeX offers trading across crypto, equities, commodities, and prediction markets, with a strong user base in Asia driven by a mobile-first design and deep liquidity.

USDC as Settlement Layer

The upcoming USDC and CCTP integration will enable interoperable, onchain settlements across the EDGE Chain, opening the door for institutional use cases, market makers, and cross-chain liquidity flows. edgeX said it is prioritizing long-term trader engagement over short-term incentive-driven growth.
