Crypto.com plans to use the new capital to accelerate its expansion into tokenized securities and crypto derivatives as institutional adoption of digital assets continues to grow.
The investment adds to Citadel's growing presence in the crypto industry. The firm previously invested $200 million in Kraken and has also backed Ripple, Digital Asset, and several other blockchain companies.
Crypto.com has increasingly focused on building a broader digital asset ecosystem, offering tokenized stocks, crypto trading services, and Visa payment cards while continuing to expand its venture investment arm and institutional products.
