Public Call for Ex-Government Talent
Brian Armstrong, CEO of Coinbase, issued an open invitation to former employees of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), a Trump-era agency, to join the crypto exchange. His offer followed a viral Fox News clip of Ethan Shaotran, a young former DOGE member who faced social fallout at Harvard for his role.
Support for DOGE’s Mission
Armstrong praised DOGE’s mission and work ethic, saying its staff could continue their public service by helping Coinbase build a more efficient financial system. He also posted a dedicated hiring form aimed at fast-tracking applications from former DOGE personnel.
Coinbase’s Political Pivot
This outreach highlights Coinbase’s increasingly open political stance. The firm backed pro-crypto PACs with over $70 million and added Trump campaign co-manager Chris LaCivita to its advisory board. Regulatory relief quickly followed, with the SEC dropping its lawsuit against Coinbase earlier this year.
