Coinbase Expands Derivatives Offering in Europe
Coinbase has begun rolling out crypto futures trading to eligible users across 26 European countries, marking the exchange’s first direct derivatives offering in the region.
The contracts are available through Coinbase Advanced and include perpetual-style futures as well as dated futures with monthly or quarterly expirations. Countries covered include major markets such as Germany, France, and the Netherlands.
Perpetual-style futures on the platform feature five-year expiries and use an hourly funding mechanism designed to keep contract prices aligned with underlying spot markets.
Leverage and New Index Products
Traders can access leverage of up to 10x on major assets including bitcoin and ether, while other contracts offer leverage in the 4x to 5x range.
Coinbase also introduced products such as the “Mag7 + Crypto Equity Index Futures,” combining exposure to major technology stocks with digital assets.
The launch reflects Coinbase’s broader strategy to become what executives describe as an “exchange for everything,” expanding into tokenized assets, prediction markets, and traditional securities trading.
