Coinbase Global is reportedly set to announce the launch of two significant new products next week: prediction markets and tokenized equities. Citing a source familiar with the matter, the news outlet Bloomberg reported that the crypto exchange plans to make the public announcement on December 17th during a scheduled showcase. The report suggests that the tokenized equities product will be a purely in-house launch, meaning Coinbase is developing the service without external partnership.
Prediction Markets: A Fast-Growing Sector
Coinbase's move into prediction markets aligns with a massive and rapidly growing trend in the crypto space. Prediction platforms like Kalshi and Polymarket are experiencing explosive growth, with their combined monthly volume soaring from around $1.3 billion in August to $7.7 billion in November.
