A New Bitcoin Reserve Push

Florida legislators have introduced House Bill 183, which would allow the state to allocate up to 10% of its public and pension funds into digital assets, including bitcoin and crypto ETFs. The proposal also authorizes certain tax payments in digital assets, which would then be converted to dollars for state use.

Aligning with Federal Policy

The bill references the federal Strategic Bitcoin Reserve announced earlier this year, which classifies bitcoin as part of the U.S. government’s long-term financial strategy. Supporters say the Florida proposal would position the state to benefit from bitcoin’s growth as a store of value.

Growing State-Level Adoption

Florida’s proposal follows similar actions in Texas, Arizona, and New Hampshire. “More than 50 bitcoin reserve bills were introduced nationwide this year,” said Bitcoin Laws founder Julian Fahrer. The bill now awaits committee discussions and could take effect in mid-2026 if approved.
