Kraken is expanding beyond crypto trading in Europe, allowing eligible customers across the European Economic Area (EEA) to trade US stocks directly through its platform.
The rollout began quietly in Germany, the Netherlands and France before expanding across the wider EEA.
The move allows users to access traditional US-listed stocks and tokenized versions of those stocks through the same regulated Kraken account.
Kraken says this makes it the only crypto-native platform in the EEA offering both forms of exposure side by side.
Users can choose between holding traditional shares or tokenized representations without having to move their money to a different platform.
Thousands of stocks available
Kraken said EEA customers will have access to more than 7,000 US stocks, alongside more than 600 crypto assets and over 700 tokenized stocks, known as xStocks.
Kraken's tokenized stock products have already generated more than $38 billion in total transaction volume since launching in June 2025.
The new stock trading service is available through Kraken Pro on desktop and mobile, as well as the Kraken mobile app.
Kraken says it will not charge trading commissions, although users will need to accept additional terms before gaining access. The service will also not automatically be available to every existing EEA customer.
The stock offering is provided through Kraken's European investment firm, which is authorized under the European Union's MiFID II financial regulations.
Tokenized stocks are growing
Kraken's expansion comes as tokenized equities become a larger part of the real-world asset market.
Tokenized equities now account for around 15% of the RWA market, up from roughly 5% at the start of the year. The segment has a market capitalization of around $2.8 billion.
Ondo Finance, Binance's bStocks and Kraken's xStocks currently account for most of the market.
Kraken's expansion also comes as the company increasingly diversifies beyond traditional crypto trading.
Its parent company, Payward, reported $508 million in adjusted revenue in Q2, up 17% year-over-year, while total platform trading volume fell 13% to $310 billion.
The decline in overall trading volume came as activity shifted toward stocks and tokenized equities.
