Always-On Traditional Markets
Kraken has launched 24/7 perpetual futures contracts tied to tokenized equities and major financial benchmarks.
The initial offering includes derivatives tracking gold, the S&P 500, Nasdaq 100, and major stocks such as Apple, Nvidia, Tesla, and Google. These products are available to non-U.S. clients in more than 110 countries.
Unlike traditional equity markets with limited trading hours, the perps allow continuous exposure, aligning stock trading with crypto’s always-on structure.
Tokenization Strategy Expands
Kraken recently finalized its acquisition of Backed, the firm behind the xStocks tokenization framework. Each xStock is fully collateralized and backed one-to-one by the underlying asset.
The exchange is positioning itself as a hybrid platform combining crypto, derivatives, and tokenized traditional markets. Its partnership ecosystem includes relationships with major benchmark providers and traditional derivatives infrastructure.
As competition intensifies between crypto-native platforms and traditional exchanges, 24/7 tokenized equities are emerging as a key battleground.
