BNB-Linked Stablecoin Debuts in Central Asia

Kyrgyzstan has introduced KGST, a stablecoin pegged 1:1 to the national som currency, developed in partnership with Binance founder Changpeng “CZ” Zhao.

President Sadyr Japarov announced the launch following a meeting of the National Council for Virtual Assets, noting that the initiative is part of a wider digital finance modernization effort.

CBDC Pilot and Crypto Reserve Plans

Alongside the stablecoin, the National Bank of Kyrgyzstan will pilot a digital som central bank digital currency, beginning with interbank transfers before expanding to government and social payments.

The government also instructed the council to create a state cryptocurrency reserve, which will include BNB tokens.

Driving Cross-Border Integration

Officials said KGST will be used for international settlements and later integrated with the digital som to improve cross-border payments.

BNB’s price rose 0.5% to $1,114 following the news, extending its strong performance amid growing adoption of Binance-linked initiatives worldwide.
