Key Highlights:
  • MetaMask introduced its new Money Account.
  • Users can earn up to 4% APY on mUSD holdings.
  • Funds remain available through the MetaMask Card.
  • The product is built on the Monad blockchain.

MetaMask has launched Money Account, a new self-custodial feature that allows users to earn yield on stablecoin balances while continuing to use those funds for everyday spending and onchain activity.

The account enables users to earn up to 4% variable APY on MetaMask's native stablecoin, mUSD, without requiring staking, lock-up periods, or manual yield management. Users simply deposit funds, with returns generated automatically through DeFi infrastructure.

Money Account is fully integrated with the MetaMask Card, allowing users to spend directly from their yield-bearing balances while also accessing swaps, perpetual futures, prediction markets, and other wallet services.

The product is built on the Monad blockchain and initially generates yield through Morpho vaults, with support for additional DeFi protocols such as Aave planned in future updates.

MetaMask also allows users to convert supported stablecoins, including USDC, USDT, and DAI, into mUSD at a 1:1 ratio without conversion fees, making it easier to begin earning yield.

The launch reflects MetaMask's broader strategy of evolving beyond a crypto wallet into a complete onchain financial platform that combines savings, payments, investing, and decentralized finance within a single application.
