- PayPal will issue PYUSD natively on Polygon.
- Businesses can integrate PYUSD through Polygon's Open Money Stack.
- The goal is to improve global payment efficiency.
- PYUSD continues competing with USDT and USDC.
PayPal is expanding the reach of its PYUSD stablecoin by launching native issuance on the Polygon network.
The integration also connects PYUSD to Polygon's Open Money Stack, allowing businesses to more easily send, receive, and settle stablecoin payments across borders using a single integration.
Polygon says more than $2.6 trillion in stablecoin transactions have already been processed on its network, with companies including Stripe and Revolut using its infrastructure.
Despite growing adoption, PYUSD remains much smaller than market leaders USDT and USDC, with a circulating supply of nearly $3 billion.
As competition intensifies across the stablecoin industry, PayPal is betting that broader network integrations and enterprise payment use cases will help accelerate PYUSD adoption.
