Interest in prediction markets is surging as investors and institutions jump in.
Valuation Soars Amid Market Hype
Polymarket, the leading blockchain-based prediction market, is reportedly in early talks with investors to raise capital at a valuation between $12 billion and $15 billion, according to Bloomberg.
The company’s valuation has skyrocketed since June, when it was valued at $1.2 billion following a $150 million funding round led by Founders Fund. That figure jumped to $9 billion after Intercontinental Exchange, parent company of the NYSE, invested up to $2 billion.
Rising Sector Competition
The rise in interest comes as Polymarket competes with rival Kalshi, which was recently valued between $10 billion and $12 billion. Both platforms are benefiting from growing enthusiasm around prediction markets tied to politics, sports, and financial events.
Expansion and U.S. Return
Polymarket recently introduced bitcoin deposit support, added new equity prediction markets, and confirmed it is re-entering the U.S. after regulatory pauses. The firm is also exploring a potential POLY token launch and will serve as clearinghouse for DraftKings’ prediction market arm.
