Polymarket Expands Into US Soccer

Onchain prediction market platform Polymarket has signed an exclusive, multi-year licensing agreement with Major League Soccer, becoming the league’s sole official prediction market partner.

The partnership covers major MLS events, including the MLS Cup, conference championships, and the All-Star Game. Polymarket said the collaboration will also introduce new fan engagement features such as second-screen experiences during live matches.

Why Prediction Data Matters

Prediction markets allow users to wager on future outcomes, with prices reflecting collective sentiment backed by real capital. That data has growing value for leagues, media companies, and broadcasters looking to add interactive layers to live sports coverage.

Polymarket’s founder and CEO Shayne Coplan said the partnership aims to provide fans with real-time insight into match dynamics and season-long storylines through market-based probabilities.

Competition With Kalshi Intensifies

The deal comes as competition between Polymarket and Kalshi accelerates. While both platforms have secured sports licensing agreements, Kalshi’s trading volume has recently surpassed Polymarket’s, driven in part by its integration with Robinhood and broader sports contract offerings.

Despite federal approval from the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, some US states continue to challenge prediction markets, particularly contracts tied to sporting events.
