Expanding Onchain Ambitions
Robinhood launched the public testnet for Robinhood Chain, an Ethereum Layer 2 built on Arbitrum.
The testnet allows developers to experiment, identify bugs, and improve stability ahead of a future mainnet launch.
Tokenized Assets Focus
Robinhood said the network aims to support tokenized real-world assets and connect builders to DeFi liquidity within Ethereum’s ecosystem.
The company already offers tokenized stocks to European customers and plans to expand into round-the-clock trading, near-real-time settlement, and self-custody.
Crypto Revenue Slowdown
Despite expanding infrastructure efforts, Robinhood reported crypto transaction revenue fell 38% year-over-year in the fourth quarter, signaling that the broader market slowdown has impacted trading volumes.
Offchain Labs, the developer of Arbitrum, is partnering on the initiative.
