Japan's SBI Group is expanding its stablecoin strategy with a new lending product that allows users to earn passive income on JPYSC, the country's first trust bank-backed yen stablecoin.
The new service will open applications on July 16 through SBI VC Trade and offers a fixed 3% annual yield on stablecoins deposited for 12 weeks.
The launch comes just weeks after SBI introduced JPYSC and follows several major crypto investments, including funding Gauntlet and EDX Markets, as well as acquiring Japanese exchange Bitbank.
As competition around stablecoins continues to grow, SBI is positioning itself to offer a complete onchain financial ecosystem spanning trading, payments, tokenization, and yield products.
