Key Highlights:
  • Telegram plans to launch a native non-custodial crypto wallet this summer.
  • CEO Pavel Durov says the rollout could reach nearly 1 billion users.
  • The wallet will support instant, zero-fee crypto transactions.

Telegram plans to launch what CEO Pavel Durov called the largest rollout of a non-custodial crypto wallet in human history, bringing a native crypto wallet to the platform's nearly 1 billion users later this summer.

While Durov shared few technical details, he said the wallet will support instant zero-fee crypto transactions. The announcement follows Telegram's recent decision to rebrand Toncoin as GRAM while taking a more direct role in overseeing the blockchain ecosystem.

Telegram already offers access to a self-custodial wallet through its messaging platform, which has attracted more than 150 million registered users. A native wallet integrated directly into Telegram could significantly expand crypto adoption by making digital assets accessible to one of the world's largest messaging platforms.
