The move comes as crypto lending volumes recover
World Liberty Financial has launched its first crypto lending and borrowing platform, expanding beyond stablecoins as its USD1 token continues to climb the stablecoin rankings.
The new product, called World Liberty Markets, is powered by Dolomite and allows users to lend and borrow digital assets using USD1 as well as ether, USDC, USDT, and tokenized bitcoin. This marks the project’s second major product following the launch of USD1 in March 2025.
USD1’s market capitalization is now just under $3.5 billion, placing it among the largest dollar-backed stablecoins and close in size to PayPal’s PYUSD. World Liberty is launching its lending product at a time when crypto credit markets are rebounding after a prolonged downturn following 2022.
At the same time, the project is seeking deeper regulatory footing in the United States. An affiliated entity recently applied for a national trust bank charter, a move that would bring stablecoin issuance, custody, and conversion under federal oversight if approved.
The expansion has also renewed scrutiny around governance and conflicts of interest. World Liberty lists Donald Trump and his sons as co-founders, which critics argue raises concerns given Trump’s position. The project says the Trump family does not handle day-to-day operations and that its governance structure limits direct involvement.
