Financial Data Integrated Into the Timeline
X is preparing to launch Smart Cashtags, a new feature that allows users to view live price charts and related information for stocks and cryptocurrencies directly within posts.
The system builds on the existing dollar sign ticker format but adds more advanced functionality. Users will be able to specify exact assets or even smart contract addresses. Tapping a cashtag will display live pricing data, related discussions, and links to trading platforms.
X clarified that it will not execute trades or act as a brokerage. Instead, it will provide financial data tools and connect users to external trading services.
Real-Time Data for Onchain Assets
The feature is designed to work in near real-time, including for smaller-cap tokens minted directly onchain. This could make X an even more central hub for crypto market discussion and discovery.
At the same time, the company is tightening API rules to reduce spam, bot activity, and engagement farming. Leadership has emphasized that crypto growth on the platform must not come at the cost of user experience.
Smart Cashtags are part of a broader financial push that includes digital wallet services and in-app investing tools under the X Money brand.
