Stablecoin Supply Breaks New Record

Ethereum’s stablecoin supply has surged to $166B, a new all-time high, up from $149B just a month ago. The rise highlights the network’s position as the primary settlement layer for dollar-pegged assets.

Tether (USDT) leads with $87.8B issued on Ethereum, while Circle’s USDC follows at $48B. Together, they make up over 80% of Ethereum’s stablecoin market.

Institutional Adoption Driving Growth

Analysts say the increase signals accelerating institutional usage. Vincent Liu of Kronos Research noted, “Ethereum’s stablecoin base is becoming the backbone of dollarization in DeFi.”

Nick Ruck of LVRG Research added that the growth shows “trust in Ethereum’s infrastructure” and could fuel further DeFi adoption, while also supporting ETH demand as network activity rises.

Market Implications

USDT’s overall market cap climbed above $170B over the weekend. The rapid expansion of stablecoins suggests deepening liquidity in Ethereum-based markets, reinforcing its central role in both DeFi and institutional finance.
