Sony Group's blockchain division has taken a significant step forward with the launch of the Minato testnet for its Ethereum Layer-2 blockchain, Soneium. This development is part of Sony's broader strategy to grow its blockchain ecosystem, following last week's announcement of the joint venture between Sony and Web3 infrastructure provider Startale, known as Sony Block Solutions Labs.

Minato Testnet Mirrors Mainnet Conditions

The Minato testnet is designed to replicate mainnet conditions, providing a robust environment for developers to build high-volume applications. Supported by Astar Network, known for its multi-chain capabilities, the testnet will also offer initial liquidity and access to a variety of digital assets.

Developer-Focused Program Soneium Spark

To further drive adoption, Sony has introduced the Soneium Spark program, which offers developers infrastructure support, mentorships, and partnerships with industry players. The program is expected to attract significant interest, with over 50 projects already expressing intent to build on Soneium. Preregistration for the program is now underway, with applications expected to open in the coming days. Read more at Decrypt.
