Brazen Attack in Broad Daylight
Four masked individuals tried to kidnap the daughter and grandson of a Paymium co-founder in Paris. The incident occurred near the 11th arrondissement, where the attackers attempted to force the family into a van. A struggle broke out, and the woman managed to disarm one of the attackers before the group fled.
Crypto-Linked Crime on the Rise
The attack adds to a troubling rise in physical assaults linked to crypto. France alone has recorded at least six incidents this year. Victims have included crypto executives and their families, often targeted for ransom or extortion.
Global Spike in Crypto-Related Violence
Globally, over 22 incidents have been recorded so far in 2025, according to a tracker by Casa CTO Jameson Lopp. These include kidnappings, mutilations, and multimillion-dollar ransom demands across France, Asia, and Latin America. Despite increased security, crypto wealth continues to attract violent threats.
