Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev's X account was compromised after hackers promoted a memecoin called VLAD, falsely claiming it would become the official mascot of Robinhood Chain and be listed inside the Robinhood app.
The post included a token contract address, but no similar announcement appeared on Robinhood's official accounts. Blockchain explorers quickly flagged the token as a potential scam.
Robinhood later confirmed that Tenev's account had been hacked and said it was working with X to restore access. The fraudulent post has since been removed.
The incident comes as Robinhood Chain continues to gain traction following its July launch, processing millions of daily transactions and generating billions in DEX volume, much of it driven by memecoin trading.
