Major USDT Freeze on Tron

Tether says it supported the freeze of more than $344 million in USDT across two Tron addresses after U.S. authorities flagged the wallets.

The company said the action was coordinated with OFAC and U.S. law enforcement, though it did not reveal the exact case behind the freeze.

Why the Freeze Matters

The wallets reportedly held about $213 million and $131 million in USDT. Together, that makes the freeze one of the largest known actions of its kind by Tether.

Tether said the wallets were linked to concerns such as sanctions evasion, criminal networks, or other illegal activity.

Stablecoin Issuers Under Enforcement Pressure

The move highlights how centralized stablecoin issuers can freeze tokens when required or requested through legal and enforcement channels.

This ability remains controversial in crypto, but it is also one reason stablecoin issuers are able to cooperate with governments and regulators.

Tether Expands Law Enforcement Cooperation

Tether said it now works with hundreds of law enforcement agencies across dozens of countries and has frozen billions of dollars in assets overall.

The company is increasingly presenting these actions as proof that USDT should not be viewed as a safe tool for criminal activity.
