Crackdown on Cybercrime
The U.S. Department of Justice announced the seizure of cryptocurrencies and 145 web domains associated with BidenCash, a darknet marketplace accused of selling stolen credit card data. The move comes as part of a wider effort to curb crypto-enabled cybercrime.
Authorities say the platform facilitated over $17 million in illegal transactions from 117,000 customers.
Stolen Data and Leaks
BidenCash reportedly trafficked over 15 million payment card numbers and leaked 3.3 million cards between October 2022 and February 2023. In addition to card data, the platform offered stolen login credentials and other personally identifiable information.
Global Coordination and Shutdown
The U.S. Attorney’s Office said the domains now redirect to servers controlled by law enforcement, preventing future misuse. The operation involved the U.S. Secret Service, FBI, and international partners, including agencies from the Netherlands and cybersecurity firms.
