- The total fraud exceeded $4 billion globally
Victims Can Now Apply for Compensation
The U.S. Department of Justice has launched a claims process for people affected by the OneCoin crypto scam. Victims can now apply to recover part of their losses through seized funds.
Currently, more than $40 million is available for distribution. However, the total fraud reached over $4 billion, meaning only a small portion can be returned.
How the Claims Process Works
Anyone who purchased OneCoin between 2014 and 2019 may be eligible. Claims must be submitted through the official administrator before the June 30 deadline.
The funds come from assets seized during criminal cases linked to the scheme.
Key Figures Still Face Legal Action
While some individuals involved have been sentenced, the scheme’s co-founder, Ruja Ignatova, remains missing and is on the FBI’s most wanted list.
Others, including co-founder Karl Sebastian Greenwood, have already received prison sentences.
Ongoing Investigations Continue
Authorities are still pursuing additional individuals connected to the fraud, as new cases continue to emerge related to money laundering and financial deception.
