Key Highlights:

  • The license would allow the exchange to offer prediction markets.
  • The move expands competition with Kalshi, Coinbase and Gemini.

Binance.US plans to apply for a Commodity Futures Trading Commission license next month as it looks to enter the fast-growing prediction markets sector.

If approved, the designated contract market license would allow the exchange to offer regulated futures, options and event-based contracts to U.S. retail traders.

The expansion would place Binance.US alongside competitors including Kalshi, Coinbase and Gemini, all of which have recently increased their presence in prediction markets.

Despite growing interest, the sector continues to face legal challenges, with several U.S. states disputing whether sports-related event contracts should be permitted.
