- The EU added HTX to its Russia sanctions list.
- Most transactions with the exchange will be prohibited from August 23.
- Several other crypto platforms were included in the sanctions package.
The European Union has added crypto exchange HTX to its latest Russia sanctions package, prohibiting most individuals and businesses in the bloc from transacting with the platform beginning August 23.
EU officials said HTX was among several crypto service providers accused of helping Russia circumvent sanctions. While the measure does not freeze HTX's assets, it broadly bans direct and indirect transactions involving the exchange.
The sanctions package also includes several other crypto platforms, including EXMO, Rapira, BitPapa, WhiteBird, NoOnecrypto, and Exnode.
HTX denied wrongdoing, stating that it maintains a strong compliance program and cooperates with regulators worldwide. The exchange also rejected claims that recent wallet movements were an attempt to evade sanctions, describing them as routine security operations.
