Regulators Move to Align Crypto Oversight
The two main U.S. financial market regulators, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, have agreed to strengthen cooperation on digital asset regulation.
The agencies signed a memorandum of understanding designed to improve coordination on crypto policy, promote innovation, and protect investors.
According to officials, the agreement aims to reduce regulatory fragmentation that has long complicated compliance for crypto companies operating in the United States.
Focus on New Crypto Products and Policy
Under the agreement, both regulators will work together to develop federal policies for emerging technologies such as digital assets and blockchain-based financial products.
The agencies also said they plan to coordinate efforts to remove obstacles preventing the launch of new crypto investment products where appropriate.
While memorandums of understanding are generally non-binding, the move signals a shift toward greater regulatory alignment. Industry participants have long argued that overlapping jurisdiction between the two agencies has slowed innovation in the U.S. crypto market.
