South Korea is preparing a new law that will officially include cryptocurrencies within the government's state asset management framework.

The proposed National Asset Basic Act is designed to replace the country's decades-old property management system, which was originally built around traditional assets such as real estate.

Under the new framework, digital assets, intellectual property, and other modern asset classes will receive dedicated management rules, shifting the government's focus from simply preserving state assets to actively creating value from them.

Officials also reaffirmed plans to strengthen the country's blockchain industry through additional legislation, including the Digital Asset Basic Act and continued development of South Korea's central bank digital currency project.

The initiative is part of the government's broader economic strategy to expand both artificial intelligence and blockchain technologies.
