Centralized cryptocurrency exchanges saw an increase in trading volumes in August, continuing the growth that began in July. Monthly spot market volumes across global exchanges reached $1.2 trillion, a 6.6% increase from July's $1.12 trillion.

Binance Leads the Market

Binance captured the largest market share in August, with a trading volume of $448.45 billion. U.S.-based exchanges, including Coinbase, also saw significant increases in trading volumes, with North American-based customer exchanges reaching $166.84 billion in August, up 21.6% from July.

Continued Growth After June Lows

The data reflects a continued upward trend in trading volumes across centralized exchanges throughout the summer, reversing the declines seen in June. In 2024, exchange trading volumes peaked in March at $2.48 trillion, coinciding with Bitcoin reaching its all-time high of over $73,000. Read more at The Block.
