- The London Stock Exchange plans to launch an overnight trading venue in 2027.
- The platform will initially support exchange-traded products (ETPs).
- The move reflects growing demand for 24/7 market access.
The London Stock Exchange is planning to launch a dedicated overnight trading venue during the first half of 2027 as traditional exchanges continue extending trading hours to compete with crypto markets.
The new platform will operate separately from the exchange's main market, allowing investors to trade exchange-traded products outside of normal market hours. Initially, it will support funds tracking UK and U.S. stock markets, with plans to eventually cover more than 2,600 listed ETPs.
According to the exchange, the expansion is primarily aimed at growing retail demand, particularly from international investors. The platform is also being designed to support AI-powered trading tools as automated investing becomes more common.
The announcement follows similar moves by major exchanges including the NYSE, Nasdaq, and CME Group as financial markets continue shifting toward around-the-clock trading.
